Probably, you have come across the fact that a presented bouquet of roses made you happy for less than 2 days, and then withered. But what needs to be done to "prolong the life" of the bouquet?
Let the flowers "settle from the street"
Contrary to popular belief that flowers should be immediately placed in water, it is better to give them 10-15 minutes to “come to their senses”. A sharp change in temperature (moving from cold to hot or vice versa) adversely affects the condition of roses.
ATTENTION! Avoid getting moisture on the buds. Roses cannot be completely immersed in water. Wet buds quickly turn black and fade.
Then prepare the bouquet for moving into a vase:
- Trim the ends of the stems at least 2 cm, as fresh cuts will allow the roses to absorb moisture better. To do this, it is better to use a sharp knife and cut at an angle of 45 degrees.
- Clear the ends of the stems that will be in the water from foliage and twigs. The more "green" you remove, the better. The reason is that the leaves "take" a lot of water, and it simply does not come close to the bud. The latter loses its "power source" and dries quickly. Damaged petals are removed without regret, as the rot quickly spreads to neighboring ones.
